HOLLYWOOD, CA (GoshRobin) 2022/6/17 – Avid Media Composer is one of the most popular choices for motion picture editors. There are many tool choices, the big three non-linear editors (NLE), in no particular order, are Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premiere and Apple Final Cut. I have used all three for many years. Being a professor, I get the B&H student rate of an Avid $99 1-year subscription to Media Composer Ultimate.
A past obstacle with Composer had been lack of MPEG-4 file support. On Windows or MacOS without Quicktime support, I couldn’t open mp4 files in Composer. However, Avid says it has greatly expanded file support (after QuickTime was cut from MacOS). Am looking forward to testing that.
I am a team leader for the Academy ASWF D&I Summer Learning Program. This programmed provides free distance learning (DL) to university students and team leaders and mentors to help them. I host a weekly video call to guide students. Although it’s not required, I host a weekly video call with my students in which a guest speaker describes her or his own experiences getting ahead in Hollywood and answers questions. My quest this week was artistic director Matt Rasamoto of Crytoys fame. I’m using Avid to edit the video with Matt.
